The Clinton, MS-based telecommunications company found 37 acres in the tight North Fulton County market, about 25 miles north of Downtown, and paid $9.8 million or about $265,000 per acre ($6.08 per sf), according to Databank. The seller was a partnership led by Tim Carssow, a partner in the law firm of Kilpatrick Stockton.

WorldCom has previously announced plans to build two five-story buildings totaling 500,000 sf. It expects to complete the first structure by the end of 2001 and will begin consolidating its work force in the metro area. Some 2,500 workers will be housed in the new facilities.
