REDMOND, WA-Microsoft has purchased yet another Eastside property. This latest one, a 307,000-sf lot at 3650 148th Ave. N.E. with 136,765 sf of office and warehouse structures, was purchased from Allegiance Health Care Co. for a reported $10.19 million.

Microsoft “doesn't have any specific plans for the property at this time,” says Matt Pilla, company spokesman. The software giant has 4.85M sf of office space between its Redmond Campus and Redmond West, plus 800,000 sf in the Sammamish Office Park. Microsoft's massive Issaquah Highlands project, currently in the permitting process for Phase I, will ultimately add another 800,000 to 1M sf of office space in the heart of a planned community. As part of the plan, Microsoft will construct a new water line for the City of Issaquah to serve the needs of the development.

“We're constantly reevaluating and readjusting our forecast of the number of employees as the company grows,” says Pilla. “Our real estate needs to match those numbers, and we definitely expect Microsoft to grow.” Pilla expects the company to continue purchasing additional properties to meet those needs.
