HOUSTON-Now that Building II of the massive West Port Industrial Park warehouse complex is built and 75% leased, Trammell Crow Co. has begun construction on Building I.

“It’s a little confusing,” Tod Greenwood, VP of industrial development for Trammell Crow, told GlobeSt.com. “We built West Port II first because we wanted West Port I to be the building that fronts along the street.”

Trammell Crow has purchased the old Austin Steel plant just east of Loop 610 and just north of the Katy Freeway on Old Katy Road in late 1998. The company had demolished the plant to make way for the 192,000-sf West Port II, which currently is 75% leased. Now, construction has started on West Port I with a targeted January 2001 completion date. It will have 206,400 sf, and is 32% pre-leased.
