MINNEAPOLIS – The Minnesota Twins want a new stadium, the Minnesota Vikings want a new stadium, and now, the Minnesota Gophers, the University of Minnesota’s football team, wants one, too. Fresh with a new athletic director after the Clem Haskins academic fraud scandal cleaned out most of the athletic department’s administration, the University of Minnesota’s athletic administration is ready to move the team back from the Metrodome to a new stadium – estimated to cost about $200 million – located once again on campus.

The new athletic director, Tom Moe, says that moving the team out of the old Memorial Stadium was a mistake. But university president Mark Yudof says that the school has $1 billion in new buildings under construction and another $1 billion in work that’s needed, so the team will just have to get in line.
