"I am trying to distinguish myself by providing a contact point for personal loans and lines of credit in addition to the traditional commercial loans," McCune says. "I don't want my client to have to deal with more than one person for different needs at the same bank."

Currently, Union Planters has more than $1 billion loans outstanding in Missouri. The company was founded in 1869 and has been a presence in the Columbia, MO, market since 1995. The company purchased Magna Group Inc., then the third-largest bank in St. Louis, in 1998. McCune hopes to open a full-service branch in Johnson County within the next two years. "One of our company's biggest strengths is that we have a large loan capacity and decentralized decision making," McCune says. "Another strength is our quick underwriting process."
