STATESVILLE, NC-Alberdingk Boley GmbH of Krefeld, a 170-year-old German industrial coatings and adhesives manufacturer, plans to build a $20 million, 60,000-sf, 50-employee plant in Statesville Business and Industrial Park in Iredell County. It will be the company’s first United States facility. Alberdingk has a temporary laboratory in Mallard Creek Center on W.T. Harris Boulevard in Charlotte.

Besides manufacturing, the Statesville facility will house a research-and-development section. The company qualifies for state incentives and tax credits as well as Iredell County inducements totaling $375,000. Alberdingk had considered at least four counties in the area when it was originally steered to the region by Charlotte Regional Partnership. The company expects to begin production in 2002.
