Apple Computer Planning Chain of Retail Stores in Silicon Valley

PALO ALTO, CA-City planners here say Apple Computer Inc. is planning retail shops to hawk its myriad computer products; currently, its only company-run store is on the company's Cupertino campus.

PALO ALTO, CA-Apple Computer Inc. is planning to open a chain of retail stores in the Silicon Valley, according to city planners here. Apple officials are declining to comment on the news because such plans have not yet been officially announced by the company.

Although Apple products are sold in a multitude of computer stores, the only current company-run facility is on its Cupertino, CA, campus. Members of Palo Alto’s architectural review board say the company’s first store will be located in the city’s downtown area. It is not certain when the planned 6,500-sf store will open. Review board members say the shop may stay open as late as 11 p.m.
