Residents Continue to Battle MARTA Development

ATLANTA-Even as the bulldozers move tons of earth and foundations are being poured, a neighborhood is going to the state's highest court to halt a five million-sf mixed-use development.

ATLANTA-The fight of neighbors against MARTA, Atlanta’s public transit agency, and its five million-sf mixed-use development has gone to the Georgia Supreme Court. The battle halted the transit-oriented project at the Lindbergh MARTA station about seven miles north of Downtown for several weeks earlier this year.

But the Garden Hills Civic Association lost its bid for a restraining order in state Circuit Court against construction of the first phase of the project. That phase consists of two one-million-sf office towers, which MARTA will lease to BellSouth Corp. Now the residents are appealing the Circuit Court ruling.
