The Cardinal Millsite on Caribou Road in Nederland, a small town near Boulder, includes an old mining camp that could be turned into a museum. The land will remain largely preserved under an agreement with the owners. The deal does call for five lots around the mining site to be developed into single-family homes.

The Cardinal Millsite includes a large mill, a compressor house, blacksmith shop, machine shop, mine office, and worker housing. The camp was opened in the 1870s to mine gold and silver and was closed in the 19830s.
