This year, Denver has copped the 10th spot. It has been ranked as high as second in the annual ranking by Fortune Magazine.

"With this prestigious survey reviewing close to 200 cities annually, it is an honor to be consistently recognized as one of the Top 10 American cities," says Denver Mayor Wellington Webb. The magazine ranks cities on quality of life and business indicators.

"The dramatic turn-around of Denver's economic fortunes is seen by others as a national model," says Webb. "From a boom and bust metropolis to a city of the future, the citizens of Denver should be proud of our stature in the world." New York City has led this year's national ranking.
