Smith Consulting Architects of San Diego designed the $22-million facility in the Westside Business Centre, which Temecula-based Keeton Construction Co. Inc. is scheduled to complete by next July. The project is a development of Kearny Real Estate Co., an affiliate of the Morgan Stanley Real Estate Fund.

The Scotts Company, a Columbus, Ohio-based firm, is one of the world's largest suppliers of consumer gardening products, including Miracle-Gro plant foods and Ortho. The Temecula plant, which will produce lawn seed and fertilizer spreaders, is expected to generate 500 jobs, making it one of southwest Riverside County's top employers.

The Temecula office of Coldwell Banker Commercial represented Kearny in the transaction. The brokerage helped pull all the other parties together based on its previous dealings with Morgan Stanley, accordingto Bruce Keeton, president of the construction company that bears hisname.
