W'Chester County Revises Airport Lease to Deal with Noise

WHITE PLAINS-In an attempt to address noise issues and unwanted flight activity during overnight hours at Westchester County Airport, Westchester County Executive Andrew Spano has proposed a revision of an airport tenant’s lease that calls for no aircraft servicing during the county’s voluntary overnight flying curfew of midnight to 6:30 a.m.

Under terms of a proposed revision of its lease agreement, Panorama Flight Services has agreed not to begin servicing aircraft before 6 a.m. and even then only to serve aircraft that will depart after 6:30 a.m. The development is another step in Spano’s efforts to convince tenants to abide by the voluntary ban on flying. The lease must be approved by the Board of Legislators.

Panorama is the second airport tenant that has agreed to a provision in its lease that restricts its activities during curfew hours. Spano notes that he expects all future leases with airport tenants to include such a provision.
