The Austin facility is located at 2209 Woodward St., off E. Ben White Boulevard in the city's southeast corridor. VIKO Test Labs, a division of VIKO Technology Inc., is a 20-year-old company that provides burn-in, electrical test, package qualification and failure analysis services for the semiconductor industry.
The VIKO Test Labs acquisition will expand ChipPAC's capacity to produce complex prototype chips. ChipPAC provides semiconductor foundry services, including package design, assembly, test and distribution. This year, ChipPAC estimates shipments of semiconductor devices to exceed 2 billion. VIKO Test Labs is the company's second acquisition since completing its leveraged buyout from Hyundai in July 1999. The first acquisition was Intersil's Kuala Lumpur factory.
