Kilpatrick Stockton LLC is planning to relocate its offices to 52,570 sf at the Westory Building, 607 14th St., NW. It also signed a lease for 25,441 sf of office space at 11130 Sunrise Valley Dr. in Reston, VA, according to Tom Fulcher, of Julien J. Studley Inc. The firm will be moving from a 23,000 sf office suite at 700 13th St., NW.

As part of the long-term lease agreement between Kilpatrick Stockton and Despa, Westory building owner, the firm will occupy the 10th and 11th floors and a portion of the ninth. The space is occupied by the law firm of Clifford Chance Rogers & Wells LLC, which will assign its lease to Kilpatrick Stockton when the practice moves to 2001 K St. NW. Kilpatrick Stockton is expected to take occupancy in early 2001.

Despa is now positioned to expand the size of the Westory, says Fulcher. An annex was planned at 1333 F Street when the building was built in 1990. This would add about 5,000 sf to each floor; however, these plans were put on hold when the real estate market took a downturn in the early 1990s. Kilpatrick Stockton's deal, paired with lease expirations in the building, puts Despa in a position to move forward with the annex. Demolition on the existing building at 1333 F Street is underway. A final decision regarding whether to complete the annex is due within the next few months.
