ATLANTA- Forward-looking investors and speculators are grabbing acreage while it is available as this market grows inward and outward, according to Richard Bowers & Co’s third quarter report. Two driving factors are at work.

The first is land use for mixed-use developments, usually high-density projects where residents can live, work and play. By staying in their milieu, people can decrease the use of and necessity of travel by car.

BellSouth is moving ahead with a mixed-use development around the Lindbergh MARTA station, intown about five miles from city center. Developers have proposed plans for large mixed-use projects surrounding the Dec. 16 opening of the MARTA station at North Springs, 15 miles north of Downtown.
