Shopping Center Planned for Portion of West Plains

SPOKANE, WA-West Plains is a 300-acre property located one-half mile from the Spokane International Airport. Its developer is Granite Investments LLC. The mall will include a 55,000-sf grocery store, a bank, and over 100,000 sf of retail space.

SPOKANE, WA-Granite Investments LLC is adding a 30-acre, 161,000-sf shopping center to the development plans for its 300-acre West Plains development here. The mall will include a 55,000-sf grocery store, a bank, and over 100,000 sf of retail space. Negotiations are said to be underway with several grocery store chains, and the bank remains unnamed pending completion of regulatory requirements for its new branch.

West Plains, zoned for mixed-use, is located one-half mile from the Spokane International Airport. The primary partner in Granite is Spokane-based Vandervert Construction, a prominent figure in the area’s real estate market. Lowell McKee, a partner in Granite, tells GlobeSt.com that the LLC is raising approximately $6 million from private investors in first-round money for the West Plaines development. Other plans for the campus include office space and high-tech/biotech facilities.
