Columbia Ultimate Business Systems Plans Expandable Expansion

VANCOUVER, WA-With expectations of doubling in size over the next few years, the privately-held maker of debt collection software is planning to build itself a 50,000-sf headquarters off East Mill Plain Boulevard.

VANCOUVER, WA-Locally-based debt collection software maker Columbia Ultimate Business Systems is planning to build itself a 50,000-sf brick and glass headquarters building here that can be expanded to 75,000 sf when needed. The privately-held company currently has 125 employees in 22,000-sf of leased space at 14300 S.E. First St, but is expecting to double in size over the next few years.

The site for Columbia’s proposed two-story headquarters project is one block away from their leased space, in the 14400 block of Southeast First Street, on the north side of Evergreen Airport. The company is meeting with the City’s site plan review committee next week to discuss potential roadblocks. Columbia’s Mike England says the biggest potential roadblock is a moratorium on projects that would increase peak hour vehicle trips on Mill Plain Boulevard, to which First Avenue is connected. A bigger issue to the city, however, may be the potential of losing a significant and employer if it cannot accommodate them.
