BOSTON- Duane Morris & Heckscher law firm committed to lease 28,000 sf of space at Independence Wharf. The deal comes as welcome news to Modern Continental Enterprises, developer of the 14-story building. Wellington Management, recently backed out of its plan to serve as anchor tenant of the 14-story building. The investment firm was to have leased 52,000 sf of space.

MCE, the lead contractor on the Big Dig, paid $52 million for the 336,000-sf building last summer, which it is converting to Class A office space. The former factory building is located on the Boston Harbor and is the site of the Boston Tea Party.
