A Dell source tells GlobeSt.com that Dell's Imation center helps the company serve its business customer base from nearly every corner of the US. "If anything, we'll be looking to the West Coast for our next location," the source tells GlobeSt.com.
The center allows Dell customers to perform validation testing, performance tuning and scalability testing of business solutions. Imation will facilitate testing at and offer storage and lab administration for Dell customers.
The collaborative effort between Dell and Imation is a good fit, an Imation source tells GlobeSt.com. It combines the company's expertise and technology to allow businesses to mirror their own IT environment and solves storage problems faced by many businesses.
"The Dell center will use a very sizable space in our lab," the source said. Imation's space at 1 Imation Place, a corporate campus, includes 130 pieces of equipment from 30 manufacturers. Dell Computer provides tools to build Internet infrastructures. It designs, manufactures and customizes services to customer requirements and offers software and peripherals. With revenues of $30 billion, Dell ranks No. 56 on the Fortune 500 and No. 210 on the Fortune Global 500.
Imation Corp. is a global technology company specializing in data storage and information management, color management and imaging solutions. The company has reported 1999 revenues of $1.4 billion and employs 4,500 worldwide.
