The agreement makes SmartClose available in seven Austin Title and four Commonwealth Title branches in central Texas. SmartClose coordinates residential closing procedures between the buyer, seller, mortgage lenders, attorneys, realtors and title and escrow companies, alerting each participant to completed tasks and approaching deadlines. The service is designed to notify participants of status changes in the closing process through the customer choice of email, pager, mobile phone or fax.

Expeditrix was founded in July 1999. The company provides Web-based business-to-business service to automate time consuming and complex, multi-party transactions within the residential real estate industry.

Austin Title and Commonwealth Title are subsidiaries of LandAmerica, a title insurance underwriter, headquartered in Richmond, VA. LandAmerica provides title insurance and both commercial and residential real estate services from more than 600 offices nationwide.
