ATLANTA-In October, some industry analysts predicted that JDN Realty Corp. would shed JDN Development Co., its shopping center development arm. But it appears the company will try to salvage the firm by hiring Lee S. Wielansky as president and CEO.

Wielansky co-founded St. Louis-based Midland Development Group. That firm became one of the largest developers of Kroger supermarket-anchored shopping centers in the nation while he was CEO. In 1998, Regency Realty Corp. purchased the Midland Group and 35 of its shopping centers. Wielanksy served on Regency’s board of directors and was managing director for investments for the company.
