Although the main buildings will be at the UC's San Diego, Los Angeles and San Francisco campuses, UC Santa Cruz will also enjoy new science facilities in the form of the Center for Information Technology. The center will be headquartered at UC Berkeley.
Each of the three main institutes will receive a yearly $25 million, but must provide a two-for-one dollar match. New construction will also allow UC San Francisco's bioinformatics program to be based in Santa Cruz.
