The investment comes on the cusp of Equator's engineering partnership with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Corp. to create its next generation MAP Series Processor. The chip will be manufactured on the Far-East company's advanced 0.13 micron copper process. Samples are expected by mid-2001.

The three-year-old Equator design center is located at Northpoint Centre, 6850 Austin Center Blvd. The company currently occupies 16,297 sf in the northwest Austin facility.The recent investment has been led by Ironside Venture Partners II LLC. Polycom Inc. is listed as a new strategic investor in the latest round of funding. Other new participants include MMC Capital Inc., Orix USA Corp. and Quest For Growth NV.
