Dedicated individuals such as former Arvida CEO John Temple, FAU ocean engineering Prof. Jeffrey Tennant and Anthony Catanese, an architect and FAU's president "have created a system to incubate ideas and technology for those with some connection to the university," says Ellington. The system was set up in 1985 and has spawned numerous incubator ventures here.
He cites Technology Business Incubator as an example of a thriving incubator program. For a minimum $200 a month, the firm provides private work space, copier, fax, phone connections and secretarial amenities.
