MINNEAPOLIS – The construction of affordable family rental housing has little or no impact on the property values of surrounding single-family homes, according to a new study released by Maxfield Research. The study, commissioned by the Family Housing Fund of Minneapolis, looked as 12 suburban neighborhoods in the Twin Cities, tracking the sale of more than 600 single-family homes and townhomes.

“For years some communities have resisted affordable housing with the argument that it will adversely affect property values,” says Tom Fulton, president of the Family Housing Fund. “This study proves that is not the case.”
