In assuming the chairmanship, he intends to advance the institute's goal to increase market share by enhancing the industry's image. The trade association represents 500 builders, developers and others associated with the manufactured housing industry Chateau Communities, based in Denver's southeast suburb of Greenwood Village, is one of the nation's largest owners and operators of manufactured home communities.

A 28-year veteran of the industry, Daniel has been CEO of Chateau Communities since 1997 and its predecessor, ROC, since 1993. He had been named the institute's "Industry Person of the Year" in 1996 just a year after he steered the creation of its National Communities Council.

Chateau Communities' portfolio consists of 165 communities, with about 52,000 home sites and 1,400 RV sites. Chateau also manages 44 manufactured home communities with approximately 9,400 sites and owns or has options on 12 undeveloped communities which, when completed, will contain about 4,700 sites. Chateau's portfolio spans 34 states.
