Synder Langston Chosen to Renovate Bay Area Mall

IRVINE, CA-The multi-disciplined real estate and construction services firm has begun construction to add an entertainment venue and new retail development to the existing Silicon Valley WAVE, taking the property to almost one million sf.

IRVINE, CA-Snyder Langston has been selected to provide construction services for the $68-million renovation and expansion of Silicon Valley WAVE, in a project that is being jointly funded by the City of Sunnyvale and American Mall Properties.

Construction has already begun on revitalizing the bay-area retail center, increasing its size to almost one million sf. Located on a full city block at 2502 Town Center Lane, the property was originally built in the 1960′s as the Sunnyvale Town Center, anchored by Macy’s, JC Penny and Montgomery Ward.

With the renovation, the owners are planning to reposition the property as a retail/entertainment center with a state-of-the-art, 20-screen multiplex theater. The WAVE–an acronym for Walk and Village Entertainment–will also feature a reconfigured pedestrian walkway, converting the property to a village-style entertainment venue through the closure of a street entrance.
