Back will provide leadership and direction for daily staff activities including project management, contractor evaluations, departmental procedures, budgeting, scheduling and quality control. He also will be responsible for the management of all construction activity throughout the Embarcadero Center. As the new construction manager, Tardy will be responsible for all retail, tenant and capital improvement construction at the center and other properties in the Bay Area.
Prior to directing construction management for SwigBurris, Back spent 12 years managing commercial and residential construction projects in the San Francisco and the Bay Area for Webcor Builders, where he completed his most notable projects. They include the Avalon Towers at 388 Beale St. in San Francisco, Portside II at 401 Main St. and 303 Almaden in San Jose.
Tardy, who started his career with his family's local architecture company, comes to Boston Properties from Charles Pankow Builders Ltd./Pankow Special Projects LP, where he was a special projects manager. Tardy also has done stints at R.N. Field Construction, Metro Development, Chevron Real Estate Management Co., Shorenstein Co. and JMA Properties.
