Georgia State Plans $30-Mil, 370-Bed Downtown Dormitory for 2002

ATLANTA-The university envisions the near-future construction of another 2,000 beds within a mile radius of the campus. A construction start on the 370 beds hinges on the completion of a bond issue by the University Financing Foundation, the project's owner.

ATLANTA-A 370-bed, $30-million dormitory for Georgia State University students is just at the drawing board stage. The University Financing Foundation project would be the university’s first intown dorms built solely for GSU. The UFF is a nonprofit group that assists colleges get new facilities.

Expected to be completed in fall 2002, the 14-story apartment building would go up on what is now a parking lot. The land, situated between the school and Grady Memorial Hospital, is owned by the Fulton-DeKalb Hospital Authority.
