Just west of the Transit Center, the Armory Building at 602 W. Main is being renovated and expanded to include 14,000 sf of office space. And local resident David Allen is planning a multi-story building on the former site of the Truitt Building, which has been demolished in anticipation of the project.
Allen's building will contain 14,000 sf of retail, a restaurant, banquet facilities and office space. A Lowe's prototype store is slated to open there in February, and several other commercial projects on the boards there, including possible development of a 60,000-sf mixed-use building.
The City and the Transit Authority are investing more than $30 million to improve downtown Auburn streets and commuter routes. To support the transit-centered developments, the two entities are expanding the Transit Center's parking garage from 420 stalls to 600.
