Rental rates in the area average $7.50 per sf. Besides the lease expense, Apyron is investing another $1 million in office buildout renovations and equipment, a company spokesperson tells GlobeSt.com. The firm, which has been at its current location since 1999, is in the midst of rapid expansion, according to chairman and CEO Rom Papadopoulos.
The new space, expected to be ready by the end of the month, will house the company's research facilities for anti-microbial technologies and bio-technologies with lab support facilities. Also going into the new space will be process and manufacturing equipment for the firm's chromatography division, Scientific Adsorbents Inc.; more lab space for the R&D team; and 15 to 20 offices for sales and marketing. Apyron is a Greek term meaning infinite or unbounded.
