LOS ANGELES-Beverly Hills-based Hilton Hotels Corp. plans to add 50 new properties to its Garden Inn brand of hotels, which would bring its portfolio to more than 250 Inns open or under contract next year. “Hilton Garden Inn continues to meet the needs of the upper end of the middle market and appeals greatly to developers,” says William Fortier, SVP of franchise development for the lodging company.

The hotels, which are mostly located in suburban areas of major cities, are less expensive than Hilton’s flagship brand. They cater to both business travelers and tourists, with each hotel featuring a restaurant, bar, meeting room, 24-hour business center, fitness room and laundry facility.
