A resident of Irvine, Mullin has been a member of SIOR for 12 years and served as 1997 president of SIOR's Orange County & Inland Empire chapter. He also is a SIOR instructor.

In this position, Mullin will be responsible for overseeing three committees: the Public Relations and Advertising Committee, Technology Committee and Research and Publications Committee. "I will oversee their operations," Mullin says. "I will be their advocate to the board of directors and will act as their point of contact between all people in those three committees to ensure there is no duplication of effort and they're within their budgets and areas of responsibility. Whatever they do must fit in with the strategic plan of the organization."

SIOR's membership is 65% industrial brokers and 35% brokers involved in office leasing and sales. What he particularly likes about the organization is that it provides an opportunity for career-minded brokers to have an impact on bettering their industry and provides a forum for members of the industry to learn how to be more effective brokers. "You benefit a great deal in learning how the business is practiced in different markets around the country," he says. "If you're not a part of this organization it is unlikely that you know much about how people have dealt with changes in the economy until it reaches you."
