However, the township Board of Trustees denied a rezoning proposal for the property, submitted by Kirco Construction Corp. of Troy. Kirco had asked to rezone property to the east and south of the development from residential to commercial.

The developer hired Sterling Heights attorney Richard Sable, and has lawsuit pending in Macomb County Circuit Court regarding the denial. Kirco has also resubmitted a rezoning request to the township, Planning Commissioner, Sable said. Proposed retailers are not public information yet, said Kirco representatives.
