The $2.2 million project calls for the renovation of the 100-year old Day Building and the renovation and rebuilding of a city block, White Way, west off Main Street. The two-story, 12,200-sf Day Building will be converted into three loft units and commercial space at street level.
Phase II of the project includes a revitalization plan for White Way's seven buildings. Four of the structures will be renovated and three will be razed. In their place, a two-story residential/commercial building will go up with a design in keeping with the surrounding architecture. The projects are expected to be completed by the end of 2001.
Metro area developers Brad Pager Developments Inc. and Center Point Properties Inc. are doing the project. The Pager company is currently renovating The Buggyworks in East Point across the MARTA and CSX rail lines from the Day Building.
