HICKORY, NC-Spotting an office development niche on Lenoir-Rhyne Boulevard, locally-based Hickory Metro Partners Inc. is clearing a four-acre site to build Ashland Park, a $7-million, five-building, 82,000-sf complex that will rent for $14 per sf to $16 per sf.

Construction of the first 14,500-sf building is scheduled to begin in February. The site is just off Interstate 40 and about 50 miles northwest of Downtown Charlotte. Metro Properties, a group of local investors headed by Steven Boyd, is based at the site.
