When completed, the complex will house the company's automotive and industrial electronics group, telematics communications group, commercial, government and industrial solutions sector and transportation systems group. It's being built at 12 Mile and Halstead in Farmington Hills, near the I-696 intersection. The company, a maker of advanced electronic products and systems, is based in Northbrook, IL. Locally, the firm serves mostly automakers and suppliers in the Motor City.

"Detroit is a major market and key to our long-term strategic growth in the automotive market," says Joe Guglielmi, president of Motorola Integrated Electronic Systems. "The new facility will enhance our relationship with original equipment manufacturers and all tiers of automotive suppliers." The building will accommodate 500 employees at the 23-acre site. The build-to-suit facility is being developed by Bloomfield Hills-based Kojaian Cos. The architect is design firm Minoru Yamasaki Associates.
