Wal-Mart Competitor Buys Land in the Eastland Town Center

INDEPENDENCE, MO-Costco Wholesale Corp. will build second its second outlet here on 17 acres. Construction of the store, scheduled to open next summer, will begin in the next 60 days.

INDEPENDENCE, MO-Ground work is underway in preparation for the second Costco Wholesale Corp. store to be built in the metropolitan area. The company has purchased 17 acres of land in the Eastland Town Center in Independence.

A spokesman for the Eastland Town Center developer, Eastland Center Associates, says that initial work should be completed in the next 60 days, with construction to follow. The store is scheduled to open next summer. Costco will open its first location in the Midtown Marketplace at Main Street and Linwood Blvd. Jan. 12.
