NLight Photonics In Town, Waiting for New Plant

VANCOUVER, WA-NLight Photonics is in Vancouver already, operating out of temporary offices near Orchards on Northeast 39th Street so it can oversee plant construction and do some short-term planning. In September, the Seattle-based company announced it is having a 20,000-sf manufacturing facility constructed at the North Park Industrial Center on Northeast 88th Street west of Interstate 205. The center is owned by Hinton Development.

NLight Photonics was founded earlier this year to develop technology to improve the transmission capacity of fiber-optic communications cables. Substantial completion of its new facility is set for February. The company is operating on $ 7.2 million in first-round venture capital funding from Mohr, Davidow Ventures of Menlo Park, Calif., which has funded several photonic-related businesses.
