This year, the association honored Jim Salata for the Garden City Construction building and Barry Swenson for the Letitia and Security buildings. Salata was honored for the authentic restoration of the Garden City headquarters at 618 South First St. The one-story depression-era building was gutted and restored using many of the original materials. The external façade also was restored to its original configuration.

Swenson was recognized for the 15 years he spent renovating the 111-year-old Letitia Building at 66-72 South First St, which cost Swenson $11 million to restore. In addition, Swenson oversaw renovation of the 125-year-old Security Building at South First and San Fernando streets, now home to E&O Trading Co., the Flying Pig Pub, Rush Cyber Cafe, Speedsters, Plumspa and California Sushi & Grill.
