The building was purchased by the Downtown Council, which will lease the building to the library. The estimated cost of the project is $32 million. This week, a parking lot near the bank building was also purchased. The library will move from its current home at 311 E. 12th St., in which it leases space from the Kansas City School District. The library occupies five floors and the school district uses floors six through 11. That building, too, needs major renovation work.
