The structure represents the Renaissance Hotels, Resorts and Suites inroad into Texas through Springfield, Mo.-based developer John Q. Hammons Hotels Inc. Hammons also owns the 329-room Embassy Suites in Grapevine; Hampton Inns & Suites in Mesquite; Radisson Hotel in Houston; and Holiday Inn in Beaumont. John Q. Hammon also is building an Embassy Suites in Frisco, a suburb north of Dallas.

The Renaissance Richardson has reached a milestone in its construction, announcing it is now ready to accept reservations for group functions and events for the upcoming year. The full-service hotel, located at 900 E. Lookout Dr., has been under construction since November 1999 in the 27-acre Galatyn Park Urban Center. The Renaissance will abut the under-construction Richardson Performing Arts and Corporate Presentation Center, which carries a February 2002 opening.

CDI Contractors of Arkansas is the general contractor for the Renaissance Richardson, which has been designed by Gould, Evans, Goodman Architects, according to a GlobeSt.com contact. The hotel boasts more than 30,000 sf of meeting and event space in 15 rooms, 12,400-sf ballroom and 12-story signature garden atrium. Rooms have been designed to be 20% larger than the average hotel room. The Renaissance is a brand of Marriott International Inc.
