Spectrum was next in line when the city finally called it quits with a development plan proposed by PA-based LCOR. At that time, Spectrum was prepared to restart negotiations with city council. The Charlotte-based development firm had proposed an entertainment center that would include a movie theater, restaurants and stores.
In a published report, Spectrum officials say they understood the city would be negotiating with them exclusively. But at a recent city council meeting, Spectrum officials learned the city was still talking other developers. At that juncture, Spectrum told the city the company was no longer interested in the project. Now moving to the front of the line is developer Jim Gross of the Metropolitan Group. He will make his presentation Jan. 8.
