Clark County Extends Development Fee Surcharge Through 2001

VANCOUVER, WA-Clark County commissioners extended an 11.7% surcharge on development fees for another year while it reviews recommendations for a long-term solution. The commission adopted the surcharge last year after determining that the county was losing $100,000 a month on review of development applications.

Also this week, the commission voted to reduce or eliminate some fees that community development staff considers excessive. The moves are the result of an outside audit of the department that was released last month. Citygate Associates of Folsom, CA was the auditor. Citygate is recommending that the county review and adjust its fee structure annually.
