The expansion, totaling 193,722 sf on 25 acres, is scheduled for completion in November 2001. When completed, the expansion's architecture will complement the Moorish village theme of the original center, accented with cobblestone walkways, fountains and plazas featuring push cart vendors.
The centerpiece of this new phase is the 10-story Ferris Wheel built in Italy and a Spanish Mediterranean motif carousel built by Barrango of San Francisco. A two-story, 30,000-sf Old Navy signature store will anchor the new expansion complex.
"Snyder Langston's history as the builder of the first two phases of Irvine Spectrum Center has given us a clear picture of The Irvine Company's overall vision for this dynamic retail property," says Karl Kreutziger, project executive of the Retail Building Group for Snyder Langston. "We are focused on delivering a completed project that will meet The Irvine Company's long-term goals for being an innovative leader in creation of vibrant retail/entertainment concepts."
Snynder Langston will oversee all pre-construction services and provide design management and analysis, budgeting and schedule management, estimating, value engineering, logistics planning and general contracting services for the Phase III project.
