Leases have been signed with Bed Bath & Beyond (35,000 sf), Circuit City (32,772 sf), Cost Plus (17,300 sf), Ulta 3 (11,200 sf) and The Avenue (5,000 square feet), according to Steve Trowbridge, development director for the project for Cleveland-based DDR. He adds negotiations are in the final stages with additional stages with a gourmet coffee shop and apparel store.
Although it is adding 175,000 sf of retail immediately north of its 506,000 sf Deer Park Town Center, DDR expects both shopping centers to feed off each other when The Shops at Kildeer open, which is expected this fall. "The retailers at Deer Park Town Center…have enjoyed phenomenal success since opening this past fall," says Eric Mallory, senior vice president of development. "When The Shops at Kildeer are completed, these two centers will create a dominant niche in the marketplace and will draw consumers from throughout the region."
Illinois municipalities receive a penny in sales tax for every dollar spent within their boundaries. "The additional jobs and tax revenue generated from the development will benefit our community for years to come," says Village Manager Lauri Schreiber.
