London-based Millennium and Copthorne Hotels acquired Regal Properties earlier this year. The 12 hotels form the basis for the recently created Millennium Hotels and Resorts. As the renovation of each hotel is completed it will be renamed a Millennium Hotel.
The renovations signal Millennium's interest in entering the American four-star hotel market. The company did not return calls by presstime but Robert Morse, president of Millennium and Copthorne in the US said in a released statement, "Our goal is to have highly competitive hotels with excellent facilities and services in prime locations."
The improvements will include property guestrooms and public spaces, new facilities and expanded offerings of club floors and accommodations. The project is expected to be completed this spring.
