Detroit and Montcalm/Gratiot Counties received MSFB approval to extend their time clocks and add new subzones. The board also approved the first two Agricultural Processing Renaissance Zones for Oceana County in the City of Hart and Hart Township. All the recent zone projects received final approval from the State Administrative Board.

As of October 2000, Michigan's breakthrough Renaissance Zones have spurred more than 194 projects with a combined private investment of more than $741 million and created more than 5,400 new jobs.
