The office market surrounding the airport has been getting stronger over the past several months, brokers say, as more tenants seek less-expensive alternatives to leasing in more glamorous Westside areas. Demand has been fueled by the high level of air cargo passing through Los Angeles International Airport and by record import-export business enjoyed by the twin seaports of Los Angeles and Long Beach.

The sprawling LAX Cargo Center fronts the 12500 block of South Prairie Avenue. Leases, valued at $6 million, were signed by Forward Air and MSAS Sky King. Forward Air will take 86,879-sf, according to its $6-million, five-year contract. MSAS Sky King will occupy 40,966-sf in a three-year pact valued at $2 million. AMB, in a previously announced deal, had purchased the complex from the New York-based financial services firm, J.P. Morgan.
