The California Coastal Commission, meeting in Los Angeles, will consider a proposal to demolish nearly 2.1 million sf of obsolete buildings at the former training center, which closed in 1993.
The city of San Diego chose the National City-based Corky McMillin Co. to develop the 450-acre site, considered one of the premier spots on the California coast for redevelopment.
The city council voted unanimously last fall to approve the project, including 23 acres for office and R&D and 37 acres for housing.Tuesday's meeting starts at 10 a.m at the Westin-LAX, at 5400 W. Century Blvd. in Los Angeles.
